People and King Cobra

May 26, 2019

Himalayan Nature has been studying various aspects of King Cobra; including distribution, nesting ecology, threats to survival and local perception in Northern Makwanpur in Central Nepal for last three years. Recently, our team visited the study area, interacted with existing local contacts (viz. area forest office's staff, army personnel, police, teachers, social workers and general public) and expanded more, to enhance the possibility of King Cobra and their nests sighting in the area. It is hoped that the team will be able to find some nests in this season also and monitoring will be carried out. This will help develop crucial information on nesting ecology of this globally threatened species.
